Mother

-Ok kids, now make a drawing of your mother and write some good wishes for her, mother's day is coming, and I want you to make this as a gift- the teacher said to her kindergarden classroom.

Everyone started inmediately to make the drawings. Miss Lindsey smiled, and drank a bit of her coffee. She wasn't able to sleep the last night. She got a nightmare, about one of her students, she couldn't say which of them, but there was a shadow in a closet, that was what she remembered the most. A horrible shadow, with a long hand, trying to take the hand of the little kid while she was protecting her student. She talked with her husband, who was a psychologist, and he told her that she had a big wish to be a mother.

Miss Lindsey had a problem, she wasn't able to birth. When she got the news, she was really sad, because what she always wanted the most was to be a mother. That was why she was working there as a teacher for the little kids. That way, she could somehow protect them, being like a second mother to most of them. Maybe that was the explanation to her dream. But, what was that shadow? From what was she supposed to protect her kids?

Kyara, one of the little girls who always sitted on the back, came through the classroom and stayed on the front of her desk, staring at her with a smile. She was clearly hiding something behind her. Miss Lindsey smiled at her.

-What is it Kyara? Is there something you need to ask me? Do you want to go to the bathroom?

Kyara gave her the drawing she was hiding. It was the mother's day letter.

-For you! - she said, and then she went back to her place.

The teacher smiled. Kids were always the same, so innocent and full of happiness. It happened sometimes, she knew it, that the kids prefered to bring letters to their teachers instead of their own family. But she anyway tought she might give it to Kyara's mother. Those were her toughts, but everything changed when she looked down at the drawing.

There was a bed, and Kyara was there, crying. Staring at something that seemed like a dark horrible shadow crawling out of the closset. Also, there was something like an angel protecting Kyara from the shadow. The problem was that the angel had her face. Above it all, Kyara wrote: "Thanks for saving me last night".

She was scared, but acted normally in order to not scare the children. The rest of the day passed normally. When all her students left, she asked Kyara's dad to stay for a while to talk. They left Kyara on the balls pool and went to the teacher's desk to talk. Miss Lindsey inmediately took out the drawing to show it to him.

-Today, I asked the kids to draw something to their mother's, and Kyara did this and gave it to me. Normally I wouldn't be very concerned, but I'm a bit  worried about this shadow. Does Kyara has problems with her mother?- she asked.

Kyara's dad seemed very upset. Suddenly, he looked like ten years older. He looked behind him, nervous, and then said, with a tone of sadness:

-Kyara's mom died in the hospital a few weeks ago. She was a schizophrenic, and... well, she tried once to kill Kyara... She took her into the closset telling her she was playing hide and seek with me, and then tried to strangle her. I saved her, but mywife was just too deep into her madness. We sent her to an hospital, and there she committed suicide. They found her hanging on the closset... I don't want to scare you, but, you know? She always said there was something else in the closset, a shadow, she said. According to her... that shadow was the one trying to kill her and Kyara.
